I do not forget the very first day when I attended the FVR class. It was May 2012. The story I heard in that class on the first day was “The Foxy Lady.” I was touched by the emotional and powerful story-telling done by the instructor, and since then I am engrossed in free voluntary reading. I can not help but wish only if I had a FVR class with a teacher who told stories like this in English when I was a young student. I still struggle with English, but I experienced pleasure reading and am improving gradually to a higher level. I now can choose books that I am interested and want to read on my own. The first book that I read was a 400 word level book (Oxford Bookworm Library, Stage 1). I just finished “Messenger” on February 7, 2015 by Lois Lowry, which is the third book in the “The Giver” series of four. That was my 160th book. It has been a year and 9 months. The most memorable book among these books is “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro. I could hardly bear the world of tranquil and peace which was described in the book, and I shuddered while reading. I would like to read that book again. Beniko-sensei, thank you very much. I will continue my FVR.
